A blue agave margarita turns anytime into happy hour with it’s cool colours and mesmerizing looks. This summer cocktail has a smooth taste with a little kick that makes it taste like a mini Mexican vacation without having to leave your kitchen. Perfect for enjoying on quiet nights or sharing something special with your friends. We enjoyed making drinks like these while we were in South America.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml or 2 US fl oz blanco tequila made from 100 percent blue agave
  • 30 ml or 1 US fl oz blue curaçao
  • 30 ml or 1 US fl oz fresh lime juice
  • 10 ml or 2 teaspoons light agave nectar optional and to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Fine salt for the rim optional
  • Lime wheel or slice for garnish

Instructions

  • If using a salt rim, rub a lime wedge around the edge of a tall glass and dip it lightly into salt then fill the glass with fresh ice and set aside.
  • Add the tequila, blue curaçao, fresh lime juice and agave nectar to a shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake well for about 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker feels very cold.
  • Strain the drink into the prepared glass over fresh ice to keep the colour bright and the flavour clean.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel and serve right away for the best taste and that clear blue look.
