Ingredients

  • 60 ml or 2 fl oz good quality blanco tequila or mezcal
  • 90 ml or 3 fl oz fresh unfiltered apple cider
  • 25 ml or 1 fl oz fresh lime juice
  • 5 to 10 ml or 1 to 2 tsp pure maple syrup, optional and to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • For the rim
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Small pinch of salt
  • Lime wedge

Instructions

  • Mix the sugar, cinnamon and salt on a small plate until evenly combined.
  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Set the glass aside.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add the tequila or mezcal, apple cider and fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  • Shake well for about 15 seconds until very cold.
  • Taste the mixture and only add maple syrup if needed, starting with 1 teaspoon and shaking again briefly.
  • Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice.
  • Strain the margarita into the glass and serve immediately for the best flavour.
